JOEBEL ABEL LAID TO REST ON THE CROSSOVER OF HIS TEACHING DREAM

In a somber ceremony filled with grief and emotional remembrance, the family, church members, representatives of the E.P. College of Education, Bimbilla, as well as well-wishers gathered on Saturday, October 25, 2025, to bid a final farewell to Joebel Abel.

Abel, a recent graduate of the College bright future was tragically cut short on October 13, 2025, through brief illness and was laid to rest in his hometown of Jatokrom on the Damanko-Kpasa road in the Oti Region of Ghana.

The promising young teacher passed on the very day he was to sit for the first paper of his licensure examination, the final step to becoming a fully qualified professional teacher. Having just completed his final year examinations in September 2025 as a Mathematics and ICT student, Abel was on the crossover to realizing his career aspirations.

The funeral was a testament to the profound impact Abel had during his time in the College. The institution was strongly represented by a delegation led by the Principal, Prof. Conrad-Joseph Wuleka Kuuder. Also included in the delegation was the Dean of Student Affairs, Dr. Yakubu Fusheini, alongside a host of lecturers, administrative staff, and students from all levels.

In a moving tribute that captured the collective sorrow of the College community, Dr. Yakubu Fusheini chronicled the life of the departed graduate. Speaking with a solemn and emotional tone, the Dean remembered Abel as a young man whose maturity “disproved his years.”  “He was not just a faithful Christian, full of warmth and kindness, but was very visible in nearly all College events,” Dr. Fusheini shared. He eulogized Abel as a student who “possessed values that mark him out as a faithful and tireless servant of humanity.”

Though his life was brief, the legacy Abel leaves behind is substantial. He will be remembered by his peers and educators not with sorrow alone, but with a deep respect for his warmth, his discipline, and his steadfast commitment to building a better future, a mission his community is now left to continue in his memory.
