The Students’ Representative Council (SRC) of the E.P. College of Education, Bimbilla, for the 2025/2026 session has demonstrated remarkable leadership and environmental stewardship by donating 90 benches to the College.
The initiative, led by the SRC President, Alhassan Abdul-Wadud, officially presented 60 metal and 30 wooden benches to the College Management in a brief ceremony on November 21, 2025.
The project stands as a testament to innovation and sustainability. The metal benches were constructed by recycling broken and discarded metal beds. The wooden benches on the other hand were sustainably produced from campus mahogany trees that were felled to facilitate the installation of electrical wirings.
This initiative directly aligns with the Global Sustainable Development Goal (SDG) 12 which is "Responsible Consumption and Production," showcasing a practical model for reducing waste through recycling and reuse.
The project, which started two months ago and enjoyed the full support of the College Management, was hailed as a significant intervention. Management expressed profound pleasure with the SRC's initiative and pledged continued guidance and support for their future projects. They particularly commended the SRC's passion for driving positive change within the College.
The donation ceremony was attended by the Dean of Student Affairs, the College Chaplain and a host of College senior members and staff. The Dean of Student Affairs, Dr. Fusheini Yakubu received the items on behalf of the Principal, Prof. Conrad-Joseph Wuleka Kuuder who at the time of the handing over ceremony was out of campus on official duties. Remarkably, this impactful project was completed just three months into the new SRC's administration. The achievement has set a high benchmark, fueling optimism that with sustained energy, zeal and creativity, the current SRC will achieve even greater developmental milestones before the end of their tenure.
The College community is confident that these new benches will be put to good use and care, enhancing cohesive socialization and congenial environment for all students.
