Our courses offer a good compromise between the continuous assessment favoured by some universities and the emphasis placed on final exams by others.

E.P. College of Education Hosts Future Prime Academy Pupils and Staff on Educational Excursion

Pupils and staff of the Future Prime Academy Complex, a basic school in Damanko, a town in the Oti Region of Ghana, on March 25, 2026, paid a visit to the College on an educational trip.

The pupils, led by the Proprietor, Mr. David Donkor, the Headmaster, Mr. Oliver Binah Nlandan and some other staff members of the school were visibly excited as they toured the College.

The visit was an educational excursion aimed at understanding how the tertiary ecosystem operates. It was also meant to acquaint the learners with teacher preparation process, students’ residential facilities, student leadership structures as well as equally acquaint themselves with the dining hall facilities and other related matters.

Mr. Adam Abudu, the Assistant Registrar of the College, welcomed the visitors on behalf of the Principal and Management. He explained that the Principal had been eager to receive them in person but was away from campus due to other equally important official duties. He further urged the learners and staff of Future Prime Academy Complex to feel at home and listen attentively to the various presentations to be delivered by the College's staff.

Addressing the learners, the Dean of Students’ Affairs, Dr Fusheini Yakubu, explained that the Students’ Representative Council (SRC) President is the highest office within the student leadership structure. He added that Departmental Representatives, Halls’ Leaders and Class Representatives are not expected to communicate directly with the office of the Dean or Management. Rather, they were to route information through the established leadership structures which will ultimately reach the SRC president who may then escalate the information to the Dean and Management as and when necessary. Following appropriate communication structures was necessary for streamlining governance and communication interaction between College Management and students, he said.

The Assessment Officer, Mr. Fuseini Alhassan Alaza also addressed the gathering, outlining the process of becoming a professional teacher in Ghana. In his address, he explained that aspiring teachers must complete Senior High School with at least a credit or better passes in three (3) core subjects and three (3) elective subjects. He added that potential teachers have the option of either going to a Teacher Training College or a University to pursue Bachelor of Education Degree (B.Ed.). He noted that teacher training programmes are generally focused on subject matter or content knowledge, pedagogy, and classroom management.

On her part, Madam Cecilia Sekwo addressed the visitors regarding College residential facilities. She acknowledged that while the College currently faces challenges with accommodation space, Management has made provisions for all essential and ancillary facilities within various halls. These included learning rooms, sanitation facilities, recreational and social spaces, as well as security and support services, she noted.

Heads of academic departments or their representatives also delivered presentations on their departments. The session culminated in an inspirational address by the HoD for Social Sciences, Rev. Dr. Foster Mawusi Edison. He encouraged the pupils by sharing his personal upbringing and the tumultuous academic journey he endured, thus bringing him that far. He assured them that what begins with difficulty often ends well, urging them to “defend the financial investment their parents put into their education.”

On behalf of the Principal and Management, Rev. Dr. Mawusi ended his address by presenting two crates of malt drink and two cartons of biscuits to the pupils.

The proprietor for Future Prime Academy Complex was full of praises for the College. He expressed deep gratitude to the Principal and College Management for the opportunity extended to his learners. He particularly, thank the College staff who had guided them through the various units and departments, noting that the presentations promised to be forever impactful in the lives of his pupils.
